Mahashivarathri 2020

Mahashivarathri 21 February 2020, the Great Night of Shiva, was celebrated in the presence of our Living Yogi, Shri Shiva Rudra Balayogi Maharaj (Shri Babaji), at the Devarayasamudra Ashram (DSM), Kolar, India.

On 17th February 2020, 25 devotees from Malaysia flew to Bangalore. For many devotees this has become an annual sojourn to India to be with Shri Babaji to celebrate this auspicious festival. Among the special programmes of this year’s celebration was the Inauguration by Shri Babaji on 20th February of the Sri Shankara Sharada Sabhangana, the dining hall of the DSM Ashram. Mahashivarathri day started with a Homa in the morning followed at noon by the Poornahuti and Shri Babaji’s Upadesha. Mahaprasad was then distributed. Bhajans were sung in the evening and at 9pm the Kalyanotsava commenced. After the midnight Abishegam for Lord Shiva, bhajans continued until the sunrise hour of the next day.

During the Mahashivarathri Yatra at the DSM Ashram, devotees started their day with the Morning Mantra Chanting lead by Shri Babaji. This was followed by Abishegam by Shri Babaji for Shri Swamiji and the Shivalingam. Meditation before breakfast was the norm of the day. Evenings were spent on the lawns of the Ashram, listening to Shri Babaji’s Satsang. Beautiful bhajans also filled the air during these sessions. Devotees also spent a great amount of time in meditation and sadhana for their continued spiritual growth. Truly moments like this are a Blessing, a Heavenly gift to the mortal soul searching to awaken the Divinity within.
